Manufacturing Engineering Technician

 

POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: 

Support the development and evaluation of equipment, processes, and projects to improve assembly and fabrication operations. Become proficient in related software and applications that support product flow and throughput for the plant floor as directed by leadership, with an emphasis on programming of blanking operations. Support engineering changes and or change requests in a detailed and timely manner. Drive efforts with manufacturing engineering in bridging design and production, improving efficiency, and implementation of new technologies.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Be able to read part drawings and understand engineering change requests that require you to make modifications for implementation on the production Floor.
  2. Become proficient with the Hatco intranet system applications such as DMM-order entry system, Item Master Maintenance-Hatco products descriptions and information, HDMS-document storage, X-ref – translation and cross reference, Routing Maintenance, and Bill of Materials
  3. Learn and become proficient in software that supports fabrication and assembly production. For example: Creo, Ncell, Striker, Apriori, and others as directed.
  4. Attention to detail, completing tasks in a timely matter, and flexibility in priorities are critical characteristics for this position.
  5. Maintain and manage files and Documents as this  is critical to proper operation of equipment, communication, efficiency, and product flow.
  6. Support the review of parts for cost reductions through justification of tooling and fixturing to improve methods and material utilization.  Work to Prepare and submit economic information for any tools or equipment needs.
  7. Meet company and department goals and objectives in the time frames established.
  8. Provide support services for Design Engineering, Custom Model Shop, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Assembly, and other Departments or processes as directed.
  9. Drive continuous process improvements in support of ongoing optimization of processes, enhancing efficiency, and reducing waste.
  10. Perform other related duties as requested by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager or Director of Manufacturing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite programs for common tasks including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills for effective coordination.
  • CAD Software exposure. Creo software preferred.

EDUCATIONAL OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Post secondary undergraduate education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Have tended and or set up at least 3 of the following pieces of equipment: Lasers, Astes, Brakes, Turrets, Panel Bender, Fiber Laser Welders, Brazing, and CNC
